Fear Gripped Me, Love Freed Me

Fear Gripped Me, Love Freed Me

Author:

This is my story of healing and coming out from under the grip of fear. At the age of 6 my family moved to Nepal where we lived for 3 years as missionaries with Wycliffe. During that time, I had an experience at the airport in Beirut where I was separated from my parents and this caused anxiety and fear to take root in my life.
After our return to the states, I was diagnosed with having a reading and comprehension problem. Because of this, I suffered tremendous teasing from fellow classmates during my elementary years. This brought insecurities, feelings of failure and deep embarrassment. At the end of my eighth grade year, my family and I relocated to a different part of the state and I had a new beginning, although I kept my reading problem a secret. It wasn’t long, though, before my insecurities and failures began to surface.
This story is about choosing to be an overcomer instead of remaining a victim of circumstances. It is about believing what my Father spoke instead of listening to fear. It is about my journey to freedom.
